The medieval province of Mewar in Rajasthan significantly contributed to the preservation and expansion of Indian knowledge traditions. Known for its rich intellectual and cultural environment, Mewar fostered developments in philosophy, religion, literature, and the arts. The Rajput rulers of Mewar, celebrated for both valor and erudition, actively patronized poets, painters, and scholars, creating a vibrant scholarly milieu. Architectural achievements, including temples, forts, and monuments, reflect the region’s dedication to spiritual and intellectual pursuits. Mewar’s engagement with Bhakti and Sufi organizations facilitated an open interchange of religious and philosophical ideas, enriching its knowledge ecosystem. The region’s support for authors and philosophers advanced India’s intellectual heritage, particularly in the domains of regional languages, devotional literature, and poetic expression. This study examines Mewar’s role as a hub of knowledge production and dissemination, highlighting how political patronage, religious pluralism, and artistic endeavors collectively strengthened its scholarly traditions. Findings suggest that Mewar’s cultural and intellectual infrastructure played a pivotal role in shaping regional and pan-Indian knowledge networks, offering insights into the dynamics of medieval Indian intellectual history.
